AIMI for Bernie Sanders in Michigan

ATTENTION, MICHIGAN AIMI FAMILIES, if you think presidents have no power regarding America's mental health care system, consider the damage done by President Ronald Reagan in closing mental hospitals without provisions for community treatment and subsistence assistance for tens of thousands of psychiatric inpatients he released, including some who had been hospitalized for decades. Their deinstitutionalization without proper provisions for continued treatment and subsistence gave rise to today's tragic denials of treatment, which usually end in incarceration. Today, 1.25 million of America's inmates are mentally ill. Closing hospitals without providing for continued care of former psychiatric inpatients caused patients, families, and communities to suffer. And still we suffer, although over $100 billion per year of tax dollars is spent to continue mass incarceration.

Many former inpatients wandered homeless on our streets after Reaganomics closed mental hospitals, and even in 2016, America's chronically homeless population are mostly persons with mental illness and substance abuse issues. Some former inpatients starved to death after "deinstitutionalization" or were burned to death in vacant houses and abandoned warehouses. Others died from neglect of physical diseases, and some were killed by police‬ during lunacy arrests, but most were arrested for vagrancy or panhandling. Once arrested, mentally ill citizens' sentences are lengthened if they "disobey" prison rules they don't understand. Yet, taxpayers saved nothing when hospitals closed or reduced services because Medicaid insurance would no longer pay for inpatient psychiatric services.

Working class people simply cannot afford private psychiatrists and care centers, but we can rely on Bernie Sanders. The Washington Post wrote, "Michigan's primary Tuesday is critical for Bernie Sanders. The state is offering 147 delegates, the most since Texas. (Mississippi is also voting Tuesday.) Michigan's middle-class, union-voter makeup has the potential to play to Sanders's strengths."

Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill urges voters to elect only people who have proved their devotion to human rights, like Senator Sanders has. Read some of his platform stances below:
~ Sanders is against the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP). TPP is expected to negatively impact U.S. workers and limit Americans' use of Internet services.
~ Sanders is against racism and always has been. He was arrested as a 21-year-old college student at Chicago University for demonstrating with Blacks for better educational opportunities.
~ Sanders is against privatizing prisons and jails. He and others in Congress introduced H.R.3543 in September 2015, the "Justice Is Not for Sale Act." If it passes, our local, state, and federal government will be barred from contracting with private prison companies, and predatory pricing on prisoners' phone calls, etc., will end.
~ Sanders would raise minimum wage.
~ Sanders would give free tuition for qualified students and lower the interest on student loans.
~ Sanders is for universal healthcare.
~ Sanders voted AGAINST the Iraqi War.
~ Sanders voted against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in October 2015.

~ Sanders is for unions and workers' rights.
~ Sanders is censored like AIMI is, and his supporters are apparently censored. News reports largely ignored the fact that demonstrations supporting SANDERS FOR PRESIDENT were held in from 45 to 70 cities throughout the nation before Super Tuesday.

Voters have a duty to consider which candidates are likely to positively impact their families and communities as well as the nation as a whole. For AIMI members and all middle class and poor families with mentally challenged loved ones, it won't matter if our elected officials have wombs or a certain complexion or religion or ethnicity. It may not matter as much as we think it does which political party the candidates represent. What matters is whether we elect representatives who care about what we constituents consider our main concerns. For people who have alcohol/drug addictions and/or mental illness or relatives with those issues, we must elect someone who will address the problem of privatized prisons, jails, and probation services. Bernie Sanders has already done that by introducing the H.R.3543 "Justice Is Not For Sale Act." Sanders walks his talk. Learn how he voted on other matters. Sanders' voting record is online at "Vote Smart." https://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/27110/bernie-sanders/47/military-personnel

Email the WSJ for Medicaid Resumption

Washington announced that public comments are being accepted until June 9, 2015, regarding the resumption of Medicaid for mental health treatment. Medicaid was withdrawn as insurance for psychiatric inpatients in the 1970's, which resulted in today's catastrophic rate of incarceration for people with mental illness.

Please send an email to Stephanie.Armour@wsj.com to say you want Medicaid resumed for psychiatric inpatients and outpatients in the USA.

Thank you for giving Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill.
It would be illegal to keep a dog in a tight space 23 hours a day and gas or Taser him for barking. It would be illegal to put a dog in deadly restraint for control. That happens to mentally ill people routinely in the nation's correctional facilities. What happened to Larry Neal? Why are we still asking that question after nearly 12 years? Cover-ups regarding the wrongful deaths of mentally challenged inmates and free people in the USA are common and vile.
Mentally Ill People Deserve Dog Justice!
Mentally Ill Americans Need Dog Justice. Treat mental illness medically, not legally. Support the H.R. 3717 "Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act." The U.S. congressional bill provides for crisis intervention team (CIT) training for police and corrections officers, assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) programs (subsistence assistance plus mandated treatment) to stop recidivism, resumption of Medicaid insurance for certain facilities, and other needed changes. Support "AIMI vs. USA" to compensate mentally ill people and their families for health discrimination.

Drunk Tank Torture in Alabama Prison

A mother wrote about unsanitary conditions:

My son was placed in an area referred to by institution personnel as a "drunk tank" for more than one year. This section of the facility has no toilet, running water, or bedding. He had to use a drain in the floor to urinate and defecate. This area is equipped with a camera, and each time my son had to relieve himself, a guard's voice was heard over the intercom making unnecessary and crude comments. The staff is required to flush the drain in the floor of his cell from the outside, which is rarely done. Due to the lack of the personnel's adherence to responsibilities, the floor's drain became clogged on numerous occasions. Alabama's high humidity in the summer, and the lack of proper disinfecting, created a strong ammonia odor and an infestation of bugs within the cell. My son had numerous bug bites, and cleaning supplies were denied to him by staff, along with drinking water and requests to shower. This situation went on for extended periods of time. As a simple request for toilet tissue was being denied, so that my son could not clean himself for weeks at a time, I went to the facility with a large amount of toilet tissue which I attempted to donate to the institution. My donation was rejected, and I was told to take the tissue back home. It was after this incident that my son received a roll of toilet tissue.

I will share more of these horrendous conditions that our loved ones are exposed to here in the Alabama Facilities of Horrors, from my own personal experience, not hearsay.

AIMI vs. USA Phone Conference Sept. 13, 2014

Today, stalkers prevented "AIMI vs. USA" Claimants' access to the conference at the FreeConferenceCall.com. The company gave us 805-360-1075 as a backup number for when our issued conference phone number is prohibited from working properly in the future. We will also see if the U.N. can help us have a secure line to communicate about this International Court action. Surely there must be some help available for people to communicate who live in repressive regimes.

Please use the comment field of any article in "AIMI-HumanRights" blog at
http://aimi-humanrights.blogspot.com/ or Dog Justice for Mentally Ill blog at
http://DogJusticeforHumanRights.blogspot.com/ . Leave your email address, and I will get in touch with you. Regardless of interference communicating, this matter will go to the International Court in 2015. Mentally ill people and drug/alcohol addicts deserve treatment, not torturous incarceration in long-term solitary confinement, denied visits and phone calls with loved ones for years. We, the families of the mentally ill, will demand restitution for police brutality, prisoner torture, and wrongful deaths in the United Nations and request that body to demand change in the USA.

We were, however, on BlogTalkRadio at (347)857-3293 today, where static was interjected over our voices from time to time. Listen to the tape

Your relatives and friends are worth a great deal of money to prison investors in government, and that is why they fear "AIMI vs. USA." Another reason is that most AIMI Claimants reveal crimes against humanity that happened or are still happening to their close relatives, including wrongful deaths and prisoner torture (not unlike the torture that was inflicted on War on Terror detainees). These revelations are therefore censored. Thank you for participating. You can join the claimants by emailing MaryLovesJustice@gmail.com, or phone (678)531.0262 or (571)335-1741.

Our next phone conferences are scheduled for the first Saturday and first Sunday in October 2014. I will contact persons who I know were prevented from joining the conferences thus far, as well as persons who comment at the articles or send emails saying they want to be a Claimant in "AIMI vs. USA." Thank you.

Robin Williams and PD: Deadly Consequences

Beloved actor, comedian, and philanthropist Robin Williams died, presumably by suicide, on August 11, 2014. Speculation went forward regarding Williams' possible return to drugs. However, Williams' wife said he was clean and sober at the time of his death, but he had Parkinson's disease. Apparently Williams, who already suffered from depression, felt overwhelmed about that. Underlying mental illness can prevent its victims from reacting appropriately to life's stresses.

Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects one's movement. It develops gradually, sometimes starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. But while a tremor may be the most well-known sign of Parkinson's disease, the disorder also commonly causes stiffness or slows movement. (Mayo Clinic). One's speech may also become soft or slurred, which could be particularly devastating to an actor's career.

The National Parkinson Foundation reports that in the United States, 50,000-60,000 new cases of PD are diagnosed each year, adding to the one million people who currently have PD. Mental health is extremely important in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Although common in other chronic diseases, research suggests that depression and anxiety are even more common in PD. It is estimated that at least 50 percent of those diagnosed with PD will experience some form of depression during their illness, and up to 40 percent will experience an anxiety disorder. In fact, new research from NPF’s 2012 Parkinson’s Outcomes Project found that taken together, mood, depression and anxiety have the greatest impact on health status, even more than the motor impairments commonly associated with the disease.

Many people loved Robin Williams and care about the actor's untimely death. Millions of people also care about mental illness, which affects one in five Americans and is nothing to be ashamed about. Like any other chronic disease, mental illness can and does strike the rich and poor of every race and age. We must continue to discuss mental illness, its symptoms and consequences in order to improve outcomes for those affected.

Who Has or Had Mental Illness?

Famous jazz singer and musician Nina Simone had a reputation for volatility. In 1985, she fired a gun at a record company executive whom she accused of stealing royalties. Simone said she "tried to kill him" but "missed". In 1995, she shot and wounded her neighbor's son with a pneumatic pistol after the boy's laughter disturbed her concentration. According to a biographer, Simone took medication for a condition from the mid-1960s and onward. This was known only to a small group of intimates and kept out of public view for many years. Simone's bipolar disorder was revealed in the biography "Break Down and Let It All Out," written by Sylvia Hampton and David Nathan in 2004 after her death. (Wikipedia)

With treatment, more acute mental patients would be able to live unrestrained by their illness or prison bars. Today, 1.25 million people with mental illness are incarcerated, and most nonviolent offenders have or had drug and alcohol dependencies. Elvis Presley - Bipolar Genius

Many talented, famous individuals have mental health conditions that nevertheless did not stop them from making significant contributions to music, science, technology, governments, and other human advancements. After Elvis Presley died, he was evaluated and found to have been bipolar. I wrote about Elvis in 2008, on the anniversary of his death. He used to be my near neighbor when I lived in Memphis. Enjoy and share the article below, which has six links, two photographs, and a video of Elvis doing the "Jailhouse Rock." (Tip: Hit "control and the plus sign" at the top right on your keyboard TOGETHER, and the font size will increase according to your reading preferences.)

Elvis at Graceland
THAT ELVIS PRESLEY was some'um, as my grandma used to say.  I was living on Elvis Presley Boulevard on August 16, 1977, the day Elvis died.  I lived about a block from Graceland, as a matter of fact.  If you have ever been to the famous mansion, you know that the king's namesake is a  real wide thoroughfare - six lanes, I believe, with a turn lane in the center.  I was living it up in my very first apartment, an efficiency with a balcony overlooking the boulevard in apartments then called "Meadow Oaks."  I attended school during the day and worked all night at a GGJ (good government job).  Thanks to Elvis's death, I was late for work a couple of times, and had to ask for an extension on the time I had to turn in a class assignment.  (See Elvis's funeral video on third row, left.)
My excuse for being late was all the loyal fans congregating around Graceland for days after Elvis died.  Lots of them held tickets to the concert Elvis did not live to give.  Many of Elvis's fans never even tried to get a refund for their tickets, and I guess maybe those tickets are worth something now.  I tell you, folks were wandering around the area of the boulevard where Elvis's mansion is bawling their eyes out and stopping traffic.  One man must have been as inconvenienced by our out-of-town company as I was, because he just plowed into a crowd of 'em!  This was a tragic accident with injuries, but I can understand how it happened.  Traffic moved so very slow that it was easy to get bored and distracted.  I actually read while I inched along.
That August I really caught hell getting back and forth home -- even at 3:00 a.m. when I left work.  The traffic was incredibly, steadily congested within five miles of Graceland with a stream of cars inching to and from the mansion with license plates from all over the country.  Folks were actually sleeping on the grassy slope outside Graceland's fancy gates, having found no room at the inn, so to speak.  I was too naive to consider what my efficiency might have been worth as a one-week rental.  Boy, the opportunities of youth that we wish we had grasped!  Hindsight.

Anyhow, I had to park up to three miles from my apartment and walk through crowds of mourners crying and consoling each other.  I also felt bad about Elvis's death, and one evening I stopped and spent a some time with his other fans, having parked blocks away again.  It was like a wake out there, and I met people from all over the U.S. and abroad.  One family I met was from the UK.  I'm glad I stopped and spent time with them.  It turned out ot be a nice way to say goodbye to the legend that was Elvis.

Elvis Presley was a gifted vocalist with a colorful life story.  I was always impressed with the tale about Elvis buying a Cadillac for a black lady he did not even know .  Now, I don't know if the tale is true, but the story goes that one day Elvis was cruising about town in his famous pink Caddy, and he happened to pass by a Cadillac dealership in town where he noticed a black woman ogling the big, luxurious automobiles through the glass of the showroom floor.  Elvis reportedly stopped his Caddy and walked right into that dealership and bought the lady a car!  Truth or fiction, I don't know.

Elvis was some singer and dancer, alright.  I used to watch his movies on the 24" black and white television set my dad proudly purchased when I was a pre-schooler.  We were probably the first black family on our street to own a TV, and we had lots of problems with too much company for years afterward.  Yep, white people lived on my street, too.  We lived about 40 miles from Memphis in a very small town.  The fact is that complete segregation was never feasible in small towns in the South due to space restrictions.  I recently met some people from New York who told me that while growing up in Harlem, months would sometimes pass without their seeing any Caucasians.  My friend and co-worker at a firm in Decatur was from Washington State.  She told me that she was 18 years old before she went on her senior trip to Seattle and saw her first black person.  At the time, I found these accounts hard to believe.  In our little town, everyone knew everyone else, including most of their personal business and their ancestry.  Half the town were cousins to each other.  Despite Jim Crow and other silliness, there was a certain closeness, for lack of a better word, among the town's residents.  Maybe you would have to be from a small Southern town to really understand what I mean.  Do you think that for real fear and hatred to prevail in people's minds regarding another group of people, a certain amount of separatism is necessary?  Anyway, back to Elvis.

I liked Elvis's voice and have some of his music - a Christmas CD and another with Elvis's greatest hits, and I seldom miss a PBS's presentation of Elvis in concert.  But I promise you, by the end of the week he died and caused the worse traffic jam in Memphis history, if Elvis were not already dead I might have strangled him myself.  My schedule was tight in the 70's, you see.  I only had a few hours to snooze  after school each day before reporting to work at 6 o'clock in the evening.  So, besides being a tragic, unnecessary waste, Elvis's death was also a serious impediment to my rest.  It was no fun having to park and walk two miles to my apartment from a shopping center blocks away.

I had to look for alternate routes home.  I learned some back roads nearby that I never knew existed and might never have known, if only Elvis had said 'no' to drugs (see notes below).  Unfortunately, most of the back streets I tried were just circles and dead ends.  One afternoon I was determined to get all the way home in my little red VW Beetle, a semi-automatic cutie!  I was hot and tired, had no air conditioning in the bug, and I only had three hours before reporting to work.  Slow traffic was making me miserable, so I tried once again to find another route home and avoid the congestion on Elvis Presley.

The houses were quite lovely on the street I found myself traveling that day, with beautifully manicured lawns.  I had plenty of time to admire the homes, you see,  because it took about five minutes for me to pass each one.  Yes, apparently the out-of-town mourners had taken over that street, too.  Cars were double parked on both sides of the street, and I found myself moving very slowly toward a cross street where I hoped to finally get free!  Fortunately,  there was a small gap between two cars parked on my right, because coming toward me was a big Lincoln Continental, and it just kept on coming although there was barely room enough for my bug to navigate the narrow passage between the double parked cars.  I had to quickly back into the parking space to make room the Lincoln.

Do you want to know how really hurt Elvis's fans were by his untimely death?  Well, let me share with you what I saw that day.  As the driver of the Lincoln inched toward me, I noticed he was scrapping his beautiful car on both sides as he slowly rolled down the street.  Moreover, he was also scratching the sides of each and every mid-sized or large car that he passed!  (In case one of the cars was yours, no, I did not get his license number, but it was definitely an out-of-state tag.)  Thank God for my VW's compact size!  The driver was a heavyset, middle-aged guy, accompanied by folks who were likely his wife and two daughters.  Everyone in the car was crying as they scrapped along.

Elvis dominated the headlines and conversation around Memphis and the nation for a long time after his untimely death.  Even before Elvis's burial, I heard someone voice doubt about him really being dead.  Elvis was so large in his fan's eyes that some could not conceive of his dying.  Did you know someone tried to steal Elvis's body, which prompted the decision to lay Elvis to rest at Graceland?  I should have bought several copies of the Commercial Appeal.  They might have historical value today.

Goodbye, Elvis.  We still miss you.  Rest in peace.

Elvis Presley Was Diagnosed Post-Mortem as Suffering from Bi-Polar Disorder
http://www.time.com/time/community/transcripts/
chattr081198.html

Excerpt from a transcript of a Time.com interview with Vernon Chadwick, director  of the Fourth Annual Conference on Elvis Presley - August 11, 1998

A therapist from Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey advanced the thesis that Elvis suffered bipolar disorder, which is a more technical name for manic depression, and that Elvis' substance abuse, eating disorders, and chronic depression should be placed in the larger context of a personality disorder. We think that this will shed new light on the issue of Elvis' death and will take it out of the narrow context of suspected overdose and addiction to the larger and more fundamental issues of Elvis' childhood, family history, the cultural influences of the times in which he lived, and other factors which contributed to a possible personality disorder.

********************

Elvis is an American icon.  There are few Americans who cannot sing along with Elvis' many top tunes.  This article serves to remind Americans that we share a common heritage which is as relevant to our identities as our individual cultures based on ancestral origins in pre-colonized America, Africa, Europe, or Asia.  I believe that prejudice can only be sustained and fear and hatred survive and grow in a separatist environment.  Social integration dissolves myths about people of other races, religions, and ethnicities.  Prejudice must be completely eradicated, and this can happen as we begin to focus more on our common heritage rather than divisiveness.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.  Galatians 3:27-29

*******************************

It is hard to imagine, but Elvis would have been 77 years old now.  We could have had years more to enjoy his melodic voice and watch women swoon at his gyrations on stage [perhaps if only he had sought help for depression and drug use] . . .   But alas, this was not to be, despite the many false sightings that occurred for years after Elvis was gone.

SOLUTIONS

1. DRUG COURTS

Many of America's 1.25 million mentally ill inmates have drug addictions. There is a tendency for some untreated persons to attempt to "get their heads on straight" with drugs and alcohol, which often leads to prosecution and criminal convictions. The National Association of Drug Court Professionals says that drug courts are the most effective justice strategy for addressing the drug addicted and mentally ill. Learn more about drug courts at this link http://www.nadcp.org/learn/what-are-drug-courts

2. AOT PROGRAMS

Great musicians, artists, scientists, and many plain Janes are currently incarcerated for behavior that arose from having a common, treatable health condition. Nonviolent mentally ill inmates should be released to community care and mandated to join an Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Program. Under an AOT, they would receive subsistence assistance if they qualify financially, plus mandatory psychiatric treatment. Providing for acute mental patients' basic needs and ongoing treatment upon release from correctional institutions and mental hospitals would get mentally ill people out of the revolving door to our jails and prisons and reduce homelessness and re-hospitalization by up to 85%, as proved by New York patients who were AOT participants. It would also increase community safety, save money currently budgeted for prisons and jails, restore families, and deliver many people to back to wholesome living. The United States Department of Justice certified AOT programs last year, and a number of states use them. Learn more about AOT programs at Treatment Advocacy Center's website

3. PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT HEALTH INSURANCE

In 2009, Rep. Eddie Johnson (D-TX) introduced legislation to resume Medicaid insurance to cover the cost of inpatient psychiatric treatment for acute mental patients who had a crisis or those who require long-term commitment. Unfortunately, the bill (H.R.619) did not make it out of U.S. congressional committees. In fact, because mainstream news did not cover the bill, most Americans did not know we had before Congress an opportunity to decriminalize mental illness. The bill should be re-introduced in the U.S. Congress, and everybody should HELP to give Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill. Move mental illness back to the health care system and away from the prison system. Acute mental patients who require containment should be hospital inpatients, not prison inmates.

Mother Drowns Autistic Son: Patricia Corby

Daniel Corby

SAN DIEGO — A San Diego Superior Court judge sentenced Patricia Corby, 37, a Carmel Valley woman who drowned her 4-year-old autistic child in a bathtub in March, to 15 years to life in prison in January. Corby had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Dec. 27 for killing her son, Daniel, on March 31, 2012. See the entire article at this link

It is quite frustrating caring for a person with acute brain issues. Seek help before you begin to feel overwhelmed to the point of hurting yourself or others. Caregivers are capable of letting the demands of caring for their loved ones engulf them. Below are a few organizations that offer advice and assistance, two links for help are listed for each of the seven conditions named (total of 18 links in this article):

Of course, it is preferable for mentally challenged people to enjoy a loving and protective family. But the strain is sometimes too much for family members. Commitment to treatment centers is sometimes out of reach for middle- and lower-income families, even for crisis patients. In fact, some families have given up on their mentally challenged loved ones, and that accounts for much homelessness among mentally ill Americans. See an article by Mary Neal, "Am I a Bad Person?" http://freespeakblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/am-i-bad-person.html

Corby may be seen as a heartless killer, and she was sentenced to prison after drowning her precious son. It is a tragedy that probably resulted from Corby's own feelings of helplessness in a circumstance that overwhelmed her. She is likely a very sick woman. See an excerpt from an article at CafeMom:

Coupled with Corby's plans to commit suicide herself, her decision to turn herself in, her family's huge bills for Daniel's autism treatments, the description isn't of a cold-blooded killer but a woman with nowhere to turn. It's hard not to feel a least a modicum of sympathy. That's not excusing a criminal; it's being human. This is where we are caught, as humans, wondering what to think. It is human to show mercy.

The Salvation Army Helps Mental Patients

COMPLIMENTARY DOG JUSTICE AD FOR
THE SALVATION ARMY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Dog Justice for the Mentally Ill

THE SALVATION ARMY has ministered to the needs of America's homeless mentally ill and other persons in crisis since 1820. The Salvation Army was founded in the United Kingdom by William Booth and his wife Catherine as the North London Christian Mission with a quasi-military structure. It operates in 120 countries, providing relief to suffering people after disasters caused by nature, poor health, or economic and social injustice.
.
Mission Statement:  The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name and without discrimination.

Programs that help

The Salvation Army provides food, shelter, emergency financial assistance for utilities, etc., job training, counseling, and many other services.  Especially as mental hospitals continue to close and budgets for community care are slashed, the Salvation Army is particularly needed by acute mental patients and persons who are alcohol/chemical dependent. This organization not only ministers to individuals' immediate needs, but it is instrumental in helping people to change the direction of their lives and has restored thousands of people to wholesome living.

Rebuilding Lives
Together we can make a difference in the lives of others.
Join us today to make a difference. With your help, The Salvation Army will continue assisting those who are homeless, abused or disadvantaged in pursuit of its goals: serving the most people, meeting the most needs, DOING THE MOST GOOD!

Community and Fellowship

THERE ARE NO THROW-AWAY PEOPLE.  The Salvation Army's main converts were at first alcoholics, morphine addicts, prostitutes and other "undesirables" who were not welcome in polite Christian society.

Comfort and Support
The Salvation Army is well-known for its network of thrift stores or Charity Shops, which raise money for its charitable and religious activities by selling donated used items such as clothing, housewares and toys. The Salvation Army has a history of free rehabilitation from alcohol and drug abuse. Thrift stores provide the revenue to run the Adult Rehabilitation Centers. Mentally challenged and physically disabled people get job training by refurbishing donated furniture and appliances. My brother, Larry Neal, a lifelong schizophrenic heart patient, was once in a program to prepare donated refrigerators for resale ( http://WrongfulDeathOfLarryNeal.com ). Items of clothing collected by Salvation Army stores that are not sold on location are often sold wholesale on the global second hand clothing market. The Salvation Army offers free pickup for some donations.
.
The Salvation Army depends on volunteers and donations. Contact the Salvation Army if you need assistance or can give a helping hand.
