I don't have any money in the bank, thanks to The (Johnnie) Cochran Firm fraud, but if I did, I would RUN and get it out of there. The bankers have become your MOM and DAD. They act like the money you deposit belongs to them and they give it to you only if and when they approve of your purchases!! Gee! These are the End Times, and the Pharaohs are taking over!! Mary Neal, director of Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill (AIMI), prisoner advocate, civil and human rights advocate, appointed by God in Proverbs 31:8-9: "Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Herbert Overton, Jr. - Sick, Homeless Veteran

HERBERT OVERTON, JR. was a college student who decided to volunteer for military service primarily for the college benefits. In 2001, he went to basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. About the third week, there was an incident involving Private Overton's drill sargent, according to Overton's mother.  Rose reports that the sargeant choked her son to the point of unconsciousness, and Overton awoke in a locked room. He was reportedly kept there for three or four days, then transferred to a military hospital. Overton's family was allowed to transfer him to a private hospital in Virginia - a mental hospital. Overton was emotionally distressed and cried a great deal after his experience. There may have been a lack of oxygen flow to the brain that caused Overton permanent damage. That began his mental illness, which continues today.

Dog Justice for the Mentally Ill

Overton could no longer function as he did before going into the military - before his alleged attack by the drill sargeant. He applied for and received veterans benefits. He would cry often and say, "They're putting voices in my head." For numerous years, Overton was in and out of mental hospitals. Rose said he also attempted to self-medicate with marijuana. He was married for a year or two, but the marriage failed. Overton would do well for extended periods, then he would experience another crisis.

In 2008, Overton's life changed for the worse. Rose reports that Overton's grandmother gained guardianship over him through fraud. Rose's mother presented a Power of Attorney to the Department of Veterans Affairs and started receiving Overton's monthly disability benefits. Overton's grandmother also used the Power of Attorney to gain access to Overton's bank account, but she did not use his VA benefits or his savings for his care, according to Rose.

With his income stopped, Overton reportedly stayed with his mother from September 2008 until June 2009, then he went to New York to speak with someone in the Veterans Administration about his benefits. Rose reports that she received a phone call from the VA while Overton was there, and a man told her that he would not help Overton, who disclaimed ever signing a Power of Attorney to his grandmother. After that, Overton was basically homeless. Rose reports that Overton's grandmother collects roughly $2,300 per month for his care, but Overton receives none of the funds and has not since his grandmother was assigned his benefits.

In August 2010, Overton was arrested following a confrontation with a nurse at a VA hospital and wound up in a mental hospital again. The case is/was U.S.A. v. Overton, case number 11-7728, in the United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. Overton's attorney is/was Stacy A. Phipps, Esq. It is difficult for Rose to help her son, since her mother has his Power of Attorney.

Police Victims Mostly Mentally Ill

An investigation by the Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram has found that a disturbingly high percentage of individuals shot by police suffer from mental health problems. There are no federal statistics on police shootings of mentally ill people, but according to the investigation published this week, “a review of available reports indicates that at least half of the estimated 375 to 500 people shot and killed by police each year in this country have mental health problems.” Read the balance of the story in this article: http://www.africanglobe.net/headlines/people-shot-police-mentally-ill-investigation-finds/

The Mentally Challenged in Solitary

Over 60% of the inmates in solitary confinement in America are mentally ill people. More than 80% of prisoners in "shu" are black. Solitary confinement has made some sane people "crazy." Now there are lawsuits over the loss of sanity by persons who are tortured this way. A detailed new federal lawsuit alleges chronic abuse and neglect of mentally ill prisoners at America’s most famous prison.

... [Inmate Jack Powers] sits today in Supermax. Powers had amputated his fingers, a testicle, his scrotum and his earlobes, has cut his Achilles tendon, and had tried several times to kill himself. Those tattoos you see? Powers had none until 2009, when he started mutilating with a razor and carbon paper. He did much of this — including biting off his pinkie and cutting skin off his face — in the Control Unit at ADX while prison officials consistently refused to treat his diagnosed mental illness. Rules are rules, prison officials told him, and no prisoners in that unit were to be given psychotropic medicine no matter how badly they needed it.

The poem and article regard the horror of solitary confinement and was published in  December 2010 to urge your help to decriminalize mental illness and end the loneliness of prison isolation, particularly for sick people. Many prisoners are physically sick, also. The governor of Mississippi released the Scott sisters from their long incarceration in 2010 because one sister needed a kidney transplant that the other sister could provide (the state had denied them the surgery as prisoners). The Scott sisters were serving double life sentences for a theft conviction they denied having done and had already served 15 years. God said the merciful shall inherit mercy, and the governor was kind to release them. I wish he had pardoned the Scott sisters or that the new governor would. I am America's most censored person because I advocate to decriminalize mental illness and expose the murder of my mentally, physically disabled brother who was killed while under secret arrest in Memphis Shelby County Jail in 2003. I also expose The (Johnnie) Cochran Firm fraud against its clients (usually blacks) who the law firm often pretends to represent after police violence while working to reduce or eliminate any payout by government entities. Recently, HubPages was merged or was bought by Glam, and it only shows the articles with high ratings. My "Jesus Christ's Christmas in Solitary" is a seasonal piece, which affects ratings. I hope you will access it and share it with others this Season. I also hope that HubPages will change the status on my profile page to say the five articles that show represent  "a selection of" my articles instead of  "all." That is misleading.

The Cochran Firm, which we contracted with as our wrongful death attorneys, helped to cover up Larry's death. It appears that even the federal government became an accessory after the fact. I am so disappointed. Racism is like a mental disease.

Double Murder/Suicide in CA Senior Home

Three people died recently in double murder/suicide in California at the Golden West Tower, a senior home. Residents and the staff had complained about the elderly shooter, saying that Chuck acted strange, but no one acted on their complaints. People who suffer from mental diseases are much more likely to be harmed than to do harm, but ignoring mental illness endangers the entire community. Tragedies often happen when mental illness goes untreated. Sometimes, soldiers on the battlefield experience a mental meltdown like Sgt. John Russell did in May 2009. Should signs of PTSD be ignored and soldiers remain armed in combat zones, endangering our troops? Sgt. Russell shot five of his fellow servicemembers in Baghdad and was charged with murder. Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech shooter who killed 33 people, including himself, had a history of mental illness. But nothing was done when Cho's college professor warned about Cho's apparent mental state. America's list of avoidable disasters is lengthy. People die because of the "danger to self and other" rule that usually bars enforced psychiatric treatment in the absence of a dripping knife or smoking gun. Three Dead in Murder/Suicide in California Senior Center (AP) -- Three people died Tuesday in what appears to be a double murder-suicide at a senior citizens' high-rise south of Los Angeles, police said.A man in his 80s apparently shot two women shortly after noon before turning the gun on himself. Police are still investigating the man's motive, but residents and staff from the senior center told NBC4 that the man had been behaving erratically, and many of them were seeking to have him kicked out of the complex.

"People knew that he was a little bit off," Golden Tower employee Alex Galindo told the TV station. "People were warned, but nobody did anything, so I know there's going to be blood on a lot of people's hands. That's all I can say at this point."

Fairness for acute mental patients means making timely treatment available. However, it is unwise to rely on people to make rational health decisions while experiencing psychiatric crises. A condition called Anosognosia makes it impossible for acute mental patients to recognize their own illness and seek or willingly accept treatment. When in crisis, family members or authorities must be allowed to help keep sick people and communities safe by authorizing involuntary commitment. One of the main reasons why acute mental patients revolve in and out of jails and prisons is because Anosognosia makes patients feel they do not need to stay on their psychiatric medications and keep appointments with their health care providers once they are freed from incarceration or hospitalization. In 2012, the U.S. Department of Justice certified assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) programs, which combine mandated psychiatric treatment and subsistence assistance. Treatment for mental illness must stop being withheld until after crimes. If people in crisis do commit crimes because their symptoms were ignored, they do not deserve to be imprisoned for behavior that arose out of their disability. Society can avoid tragedies like the three deaths at Golden West Tower by (1) making it easier to commit people in crisis to inpatient hospitals for evaluation and treatment, and (2) using mandatory AOT programs to maintain mental health for acute patients upon release from hospitals and prisons or jails.

Police hid evidence to wrongfully convict a mentally ill black man for murder. George Allen was freed after 30 years in a Missouri prison. Some police officers and prosecutors are content to close cases by lying on minorities and mentally ill Americans. George Allen was incarcerated 30 years for a rape and murder, but thanks to hard work by the Innocence Project, he is a free man today. The prosecutors sought death in Allen's case, but a juror had to leave jury duty on an emergency. Censorship is applied to stories of wrongful convictions, especially with the factors that such as George Allen faced: (1) deliberate falsification by police and prosecutors; (2) wrongful death penalty; (3) racism; and (4) a mentally or physically challenged victim.

After Allen was freed, he had lunch with his mother, Lonzetta Taylor (pictured below). More cases may be examined that were investigated by the same detective who withheld information to win Allen's wrongful conviction.
