No Indictment for Ethan Saylor's Homicide

A Maryland grand jury refused to indict police officers responsible for the death of Ethan Saylor, a 26-year-old man with Down Syndrome, who was killed inside a movie theater in January 2013 while wearing police handcuffs. The official cause of death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation. An autopsy revealed that Saylor suffered a fractured throat cartilage, which one expert says could only have been caused by force of some kind. Force could have included a direct blow or manual strangulation.

The Maryland grand jury's refusal to indict Saylor's killers comes on the heels of two other highly contested grand jury decisions regarding the police killings of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in New York. Eric Garner died as a result of an illegal choke hold, which might have also been used to kill Saylor.

Alternative Media Syndicate.com reports, "Because of Saylor's large size, the officers say they had to use three sets of handcuffs on him and placed him on his stomach for 'one to two minutes' ... Just as in the case of Eric Garner, the police have said that being obese 'contributed' to Saylor’s death, making him 'more susceptible to breathing problems.'"

The lives of mentally dysfunctional Caucasians like Kelly Thomas and Ethan Saylor seem to receive no more protection than do the lives of African Americans. Saylor refused to leave the theater after the conclusion of a movie he was taken to see by his caretaker. When she explained to the theater staff that they did not have the fare to watch "Zero Dark Thirty” a second time, police were called. The fare for most movies is less than $10. Thousands of protesters feel that police officers need reminding that black lives matter. The lives of mentally challenged Americans also matter. People in these two groups comprise the overwhelming majority of the nation's police-involved casualties, including avoidable deaths. It is impossible to give an exact count of how many Americans with mental disabilities or African Americans die at the hands of police officers each year, because police seem not to have any reporting responsibilities in that regard. We do know it is a significant number. For instance, seven people were shot dead by police in Florida within eight days in November 2014. Florida would have killed eight, except police missed when shooting at an unarmed African American father who was trying to get his daughter home for her asthma treatment (see the AntiMedia link below). If one citizen per day is killed in all 50 states, the total deaths are 18,250 annually (without counting inmates killed by corrections officers).

It seems that countries that disregard the right to life for mentally challenged people eventually do the same for minorities. More than 300,000 mentally challenged individuals of all races were isolated and killed in Nazi Germany before that nation began its ethnic cleansing and killed millions of Jews and blacks. In the USA, approximately 1.25 million mentally challenged people are isolated in prisons and jails (comprising over 60 percent of inmates in solitary confinement). Deaths of mentally ill Americans are quite common during their imprisonment.

Brian Claunch was an unarmed, wheelchair-bound, schizophrenic double-amputee who was shot and killed by police in his Houston, Texas care home because he asked for a cigarette and soda.

Few African Americans said anything about the secret arrest and murder of Larry Neal, either. They were apparently told not to report news about Larry, who was murdered after 18 days of secret arrest in Memphis Shelby County Jail, in a "chocolate city" headed by a black mayor and many blacks on the County Commission - mostly NAACP members. That is how ridiculous it is for Americans to make race our main focus. Oppressors come in ALL COLORS. Google "The Cochran Firm Fraud."

We the People have relatives, friends and neighbors who are at risk for incarceration and death-by-police because of the deprivation of psychiatric treatment. Our communities' safety is continually compromised because of untreated mental illness, which is deliberately left untreated until sick citizens "prove" to be a danger to self and others by committing some crime worthy of imprisonment. Approximately 1.25 million mentally ill people are presently imprisoned and comprise at least 60% of inmates in solitary confinement torture. Every year, hundreds are killed by police officers in avoidable tragedies, even when they present no threat to police or anyone else. 

The lives of mentally ill Americans are marginalized. This travesty of justice will continue for as long as families like the Neals are terrorized and censored to prevent disclosure while the People of America look the other way. Imprisonment for prison profits and avoidable deaths happen to African Americans, Caucasians, Asians, Latinos, and Native Americans. The only brain damaged people who may be exempt are the very wealthy - people can afford psychiatrists, private hospitals, and caregivers. Oppression of psychiatric patients is historic and universal, but nowhere is it more evident than in the United States of America, where the common, treatable health condition was criminalized and treatment is withheld in order to generate prison profits. Even veterans who transition from the battlefield become prisoners of war in America due to untreated post traumatic stress disorder. 

Exposure of America's mental health crisis is increasing, even in mainstream media. Mary Neal, director of "Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill," continues to find new avenues to expose discrimination against millions of Americans of all races who are subject to extreme negligence that leads to homelessness, prison and death: wrongful executions, police brutality (including deaths), and torturous prison sentences, many without trials.

WE DEMAND (1) accountability for all deaths, including accurate record keeping to document deaths and catastrophic injuries caused by police to mentally ill and brain damaged Americans; (2) easier access to involuntary commitment; (3) specially trained police officers to answer emergency calls involving people with brain issues; (4) a significant increase in psychiatric hospital beds; and (5) assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) programs mandating continuous psychiatric care and subsistence assistance to prevent re-hospitalization and recidivism for all acute mental patients exiting psychiatric hospitals and correctional institutions.

WHERE WOULD THE MONEY COME FROM FOR THESE FIVE CHANGES? Over one-half of America's prisoners are mentally ill people, many of whom would not have been arrested if they had not been deprived of care. The prison industrial complex is paid roughly $25 billion per year for their cruel incarceration (according to the 2008 PEW estimate of America's $50 billion per year prison expenditures), and hundreds of billions more each year in collateral costs (police services, indigent defense, and lawsuits caused by aggressive policing). AOT programs reduce incarceration by over 85%.

For the last number of years, this writer has been continually censored while entering data online, and data has been tampered with and some removed that I posted. Police Murder Ethan Saylor, Down Syndrome Victim

FREDERICK, MD — New details have emerged of the death of Ethan Saylor, a mentally handicapped man killed inside a movie theater in January while wearing police handcuffs. The official cause of death was asphyxiation, and an autopsy has revealed that the man suffered a peculiar injury — fractured throat cartilage — which one expert says could only have been caused by force of some kind. Force, which could have included a direct blow or manual strangulation.

Ethan loved the movie and clapped at its end. He wanted to see it again and refused to leave. Police were called. Ethan's caretaker explained that they lacked the money to purchase more tickets and asked police to please wait it out. Touching Ethan would make him "freak out."

“Next thing I know, there are I think three or four cops holding Ethan, trying to put him in handcuffs,” the aide told authorities, according to Sheriff’s Department documents. “I heard Ethan screaming, saying ‘ouch,’ ‘don’t touch me,’ ‘get off’ and crying. Next thing I hear is nothing.”

“Mommy! It hurt!” were Ethan Saylor's last words.

The police officers who killed him are still on the job. 

Ethan Saylor, who police murdered over a movie ticket, Kelly Thomas, who police murdered for vagrancy, and Tim Sauders, who jailers murdered on a restraint table where he was abandoned for four days, were all Caucasians. They and other Caucasians were killed like black people with brain dysfunctions are, but their families' treatment after the murders significantly differs from the experience of some black survivors. The media reported the circumstances of these men's wrongful deaths, and accountability was demanded. Ethan's death is being examined by the U.S. Justice Department. 

All the families were or will be awarded damages for the police murders. None of the families were censored, gangstalked, and financially persecuted for communicating about the deaths of their disabled relatives. No police went to the homes of Ethan, Kelly, and Tim and warned their families not to report crimes done to silence them. Survivors were not threatened by police with Tasering and arrests for complaining about the murders. Their homes were not burglarized to remove evidence related to the murders and denial of due process of law. None of these men's elderly relatives were sexually assaulted on their hospital beds as punishment for seeking justice in court. Nobody sprayed a chemtrail "x" over their rooftops. No one outlined their yards in paint and ordered helicopters to stand still over their rooftops for 30 minutes as harassment. They are not victimized by malicious prosecution. These families' phone calls and Internet usage are not blocked to prevent the world from knowing about their suppression - because they are Caucasians.

Caucasian families' cries for justice when police kill their disabled relatives are not ignored by every human and civil rights organization or suppressed by the media and law enforcement agencies, because the murders are not covered-up by the U.S. Justice Department. White survivors do not endure harsh tactics to elicit their silence. They are not faced with the possibility of having to take the murders and their own victimization before the United Nations as a last resort in the search for justice. All of these circumstances befell Larry Neal's family, because we are black.

Ethan Saylor, Kelly Thomas, and Tim Souders were Caucasians. They were murdered like Larry Neal was under the color of law. Larry was secretly arrested and held 18 days without his heart and psychiatric medications until he was murdered by that deprivation or by Taser or by restraint device or by brutality, but he was black. In America, that makes all the difference in how police murders are handled, even with blacks in positions of government responsibility. That is because most Negroes in decision making positions work for white supremacist globalists who consider it ridiculous to answer for any black person's wrongful death, particularly one who is mentally disabled. They have no respect whatsoever for anyone's humanity, but with blacks, they are not afraid to show it.

Families of mentally challenged people of every race and everyone who cares about their human rights must band together. Survivors of white police violence victims are treated better than survivors of black victims, but at the end of the day, they all have dead love ones. Families with members who suffer from schizophrenia, Downs syndrome, dementia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, Autism, and other brain issues must realize that whether black, white or other, their loved ones are at greater risk for incarceration, brutality, and police murder. None of our mentally challenged relatives and neighbors are safe as long as news about their deaths is stifled and police officers and jail guards are protected after wrongful deaths. It is time for everyone to unite and give Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill.
